ANPA AllianceThe ANPA Alliance is an organization of spouses and significant others of ANPA members,fellows,residents and students committed to enhancing the well-being of the ANPA family and society at large. Alliance meetings are held during ANPAs yearly Convention. Most year round activities takes place at the local ANPA Chapters all over the country. AREAS OF INTEREST:
-MEDICAL MISSIONS: Alliance members have traditionally being an integral part of our Medical Missions as active medical and nonmedical team members on such trips.We also help to raise money, drugs, supplies and medical equipment,eye glasses,logistical support etc for our missions. Recruitment of Nonphysician volunteers especially premed and medical students depends in part on the network of ANPA Alliance members. - SOCIAL: Alliance members organize our Family Picnic and Children events during the annual ANPA convention.We act as a social support system to our new physicians, residents and medical students at the local chapters to culturally and socially assimilate. We also act as a formal and informal forum on issues of Health Careers, Raising a Black Child in America,International Health,Caring for our Aged ones, Conflict Resolution,Emotional Wellbeing and Support during Hard Times, Diaspora issues. -HEALTH PROMOTION: Members participate formally at their local ANPA chapter level on issues such as Health education,Food Drives,Clothing Drives,HIV/AIDS day,Black History Month activities,local African and African-American issues,Immigrant and Diaspora related Health issues.We are particularly concerned about the disproportionate disease burden of people of African descent especially Heart Disease, Hypertension and Diabetes. We shall continue to work with our National and local groups like the NMA, NAACP and the Urban League to assuage the burden on those who are already afflicted.
